HOW TO CREATE A SIMPLE ART003 PAGE IN FRONTPAGE
NOTE: If you are having trouble saving Frontpage,
ESPECIALLY USING FRONTPAGE IN STUDENT LABS on campus see this link:
http://www.ds.psu.edu/Computing/default.htm
HERE you will find two links with Frontpage instructions.
FrontPage will not allow you to save a page unless you are authoring inside a web. The link below provided by our helpful computer department provides step by step instructions on how to start from scratch in building a web in Frontpage, and how to edit pages once you have a web built.

Some pointers:

KEEP ALL ITEMS FOR ART003 in one folder -- all htmls and images files.

To change the look of your page:

1.)
Inserting Tables or Cell Blocks
under Table. Insert Table.
For starters choose a 10 rows / 1 column OK.
Align: center
Border size: 0
cell Padding: 7
cell spacing: 7
Using tables allows you to control spacing and arranging your page.

2.) Click in the top row of your table (cell block)
Type Art 003, Images for the Web
In your top menu box box you can select alignment and also the type style
(do not leave as default)
Select type style, size and colors. of any text you have highlited.
size 1 is usually too small / size 4 is very large most often text size is 2-3

3.) In the next box below "Art 003" type your Name
Again, you can change alignment, type style, size and colors. of any text you have highlited.

4.) Continue with your email and in each block type the title of all seven assignments

(Reminder) So you don't lose your work so far: SAVE

We will make a link to Assignment 1.
Highlight Assignment 1.
Insert scroll to Hyperlink
In the box on the bottom type in the name of the page you want to link to

(or if your page has already been created, select it)
We have not created the Assignment 1 page yet,
so we will type the title in the box at the bottom "art003assignment1.html"
This creates a link to a page called "art003assignment1.html"
Whatever you type in the link box must match exactly the page you wish to link to.
but we will remember that when we do we need to save it as "art003assignment1.html" )
(capitals and spaces and everything must be EXACTLY the same)

6.) MAKING LINKS to email
We will create a link to our Email address.
Highlight your Email address.
Insert
scroll to Hyperlink
In the box on the bottom type in "mailto:yourEmail")

(mine looks like this: "mailto:mcv2@psu.edu")

7.) Save
Your page will be a variation of this "art003" frontpage:
Example of art003 frontpage

8.) Making the page for the Assignment 1 link.
Under Start New or if your art003 frontpage is open
Under File do Save As.
Save as
"art003assignment1.html"
Be sure to save this file in your "Art 003" folder.
(Make sure matches exactly the name as the Assignment 1 link on "Art003.html")

9.) Using the tables as you did in Art003.html
type in the requirements of the Assignment 1 page
1.) A brief background of your experience in photography, art, or Web-design.
2.) List at least 2 things you hope to learn in this class.

In the box on the bottom
type the title of you rhome page, maybe art003. or index depending how you saved your frontpage
"art003.html"
this is the name of the first page you made, your art003 frontpage.

12.) When you finish be sure to Save this page as "art003assignment1.html"

Your page will be a variation on this "Assignment 1" page:

TO INSERT IMAGES
click where you want to place your image
Under Insert / scroll to Picture / From File
Browse to your image
(which should be found in your "Art 003" folder only.)
BECAUSE ALL .HTMLS AND .JPGS MUST BE IN THE SAME FOLDER

Once you have done this and become more confident please feel free to make your pages fancier and more interesting.
