SAVING FILES IN FIREWORKS FOR THE WEB

1. Open Fireworks

2. Under File, scroll to Open

3. Browse until you find the chosen photo.
Click on the photo and hit Open.
If the photo is the way you want it,
procede to the next step.
If not, see: How to Adjust Images in Firework

4. Under Modify go to Image Size.
(maybe be Modify, Canvas)

6. Change the size, in the
Print Size Box.

A typical size for a large web photo is 7 inches
by a resolution of 72 pixel.
Be sure both boxes under resolution are checked.
Hit Okay.
(Uncheck Resample Image for printing.
The actual size can be lowered to a paper size while the the resolution will increase,
to keep the highest quality possible for printing.)

7. Under File scroll to Export Preview.
Your Image will appear in a gray box.
On the top it says how large the file is and how long the download time will be.
On the left, in the settings box you can make adjustments to type of file: suggested jpg or gif and adjust the quality bar. You should be able to see the image change as you change these options.
(A typical setting for a 7" photo would be
JPG HIGH, quality 70)
check to see that the image download time between 3-17 secs.

8.) Hit Export (button on botton)
Change the title so that you can easily recognize it, and so that the title is different than the orginal title. The title should have NO spaces, NO symbols, NO dashes or anything but LOWERCASE REGULAR LETTERS AND NUMBERS ONLY in the title.
BAD EXAMPLE: Flower w/bee .JPG
GOOD EXAMPLE: flowerbee.jpg

All image titles should end in .jpg or .gif
BE SURE to browse and save your image in your "Art003" folder!
Images you post must be in the same folder as the .html pages!

9.) The image should now be ready to insert into a webpage. See:

10.) When you are finished the file is left on the desktop, do not save it. When you close Fireworks it will ask "Do you want to save the file?" SAY NO. You have already saved the file in your "Art003" folder. Always leave an orginial, large version of your images incase you want them in the future.
