Javier Winthuysen

Francisco Javier de Winthuysen y Losada, 1874-1956, was born in Seville, Spain. He was the last male direct descendent of a Flemish family who moved to Spain in the late sixteenth century. He trained as a painter with Jose Arpa and Gonzalo Bilbao, two well-known masters of the late nineteenth century in Seville.

Winthuysen is a recognized master. His works are present in museums and private collections in Spain, and other countries. The group of paintings graciously presented for your perusal is part of the artistic work done by Winthuysen during the last stage of his career in Barcelona.
