"Escape"
No. 0525086 - oil on canvas

In 1956, Laszlo Tar and his family fled their homeland, Hungary, during the revolt against Communism. Arriving in a new country with only what they could carry, this traumatic ordeal left deep scars that lingered for years. This piece was inspired by that event and clearly, it is very different than anything else in his large collection. The work carries symbolic significance to the endless struggle for survival and freedom that so many experience in their life.

The exact date that this piece was completed is not known, but it was sometime in the early 1960's. The work consists of oil paint on canvas.
