A close up of the basic generator unit is at right in the first image. It was made by connecting vertices which form the outline of the upper half and spinning them about an axis to give a symmetrical 3D object. The object is then spun (the lefthand mesh below) and duplicated five times in forty-five degrees in a clockwise direction in relation to the 3D cursor (red and white circle).

And here is the spun object stretched and compressed (deformed) and then duplicated and rotated to create the second generator. They're positioned above the model of the stone cushion, seen here as it really is, a flattened cube with rounded corners.
