NCIT Internet Services

An Internet connection requires the placement of a router on your network and a connection to a router at a NCIT POP via a 56K through T-1 leased line.

Because of the hardware involved, a network connection has a substantial one-time fee, called an installation and activation fee. This fee offsets the cost of the port on a router at the NCIT site and the associated telecommunication charges for this NCIT port access.

Members of the NCIT network must connect to a site which is determined by NCIT and must pay for a leased line data circuit to this connection site. NCIT will obtain quotes for the prices of data circuits and will order them at the time of acceptance of your membership to our network. Costs for a leased line data circuit are dependent upon your location. This is a recurring monthly charge which is determined by distance, location and various communication carriers.

By allowing members to connect their own NCIT approved router and CSU/DSU to a port on a NCIT router, we can lower the start-up costs. Our pricing for this service is a $1,000 one-time fee for 56K and $2,000 for T-1. This includes the router port and a CSU/DSU at the NCIT end. Members still must pay for the leased line data circuit via NCIT.

Because this is a router port-only service, members utilizing this service take responsibility for the configuration, management, and maintenance of the equipment at their end. NCIT will take responsibility for the operation of the data-circuit up to the CSU/DSU at the member site. The equipment provided by the member must be known to interoperate with existing NCIT equipment.

NCIT can provide primary or secondary name service for the member as needed.

Leased Line Connections for Internet Service

• 56K $500 monthly Internet service charge, plus monthly lease line service charge
• (1.5 mbps) $1,000 monthly Internet service charge, plus monthly lease line service charge
• Fractional T-1 Charge is variable according to line capacity (128K, 384K)
• Frame Relay 56K through T-1 Charge is variable according to line capacity (128K, 384K)

These prices all include a class C address on the Internet and 255 IP numbers.

All charges are determined by the Regional bell Operating Company and the interstate circuit provider.
