Sydney Fischer studied fine arts at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and graphic design at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids.

She has been an illustrator/designer for The Denver Post and for USA Today in Washington, D.C., and an editorial art director and illustrator for The San Jose Mercury News and West magazine.

Sydney has taught conceptual illustration at San Jose State University in the Design program and 'Accidental Painting' in the Santa Clara County Adult Ed program.

Her illustration and design is nationally and internationally recognized, appearing in such publications as Print, Graphics, Society of Illustrators Humor Annual, Society of Publication Design, and Mother Earth.

Her work has won numerous awards, including two Gold awards from the Denver Art Directors Club and three Silver awards from the Society of Newspaper Design.

Sydney's illustration, 'Dream Baby', was chosen for inclusion in a Retrospective of Women Illustrators at San Jose State University in the spring of 2OO1, and has also been shown at Euphrat Gallery, at City Lights in Santa Clara, and in The Staircase Gallery at The San Mateo Public Library.

Her illustrations appear in 'Life in the Big Sea', a children's book published in 2OO1.

Sydney is currently writing and illustrating a series of little books 'Bitsy Biographies'.

She is an exhibiting member of The Coastal Arts League.
