Raining on Mondays: Stanford Quad
Pastel.
This is painted on rough watercolor paper with a red-violet acrylic ground, which shows through the blue in the low spots of the paper, providing a contrasting (though not completely complementary) color to give the blues some oomph. Again I'm working to simplify forms, though in this case I have reversed the color scheme, rendering the yellow ochre sandstone in ultramarine blue.
