November 25, 2005

Between moving and construction, no new poems lately, though I still attend
meetings of the East Bay Poetry Workshop.

September 9, 2005

"your other half" is September's featured poem.

August 10, 2005

Today I received a letter stating that I am an "alternate" for a residency at
the Djerassi Resident Artists Program.
Dave said, "Does that mean if someone
dies you get to go?"

August 4, 2005

"How to Suffer, a Handbook", August's featured poem, is actually an old poem
that I found while browsing through my files. It was so funny I had to post it.

This year, I have written quite a few new poems, but for publication rights issues am waiting
to post them here, as I hope to get them into literary journals and a book entitled You
that will be a multicultural exploration of spirituality, death, and transformation.

I googled myself online today and realized that Kiyotei did a pretty cool flashlight artist
interview of me awhile ago.

July, 2005

Time flies. I had a kick-ass time at Kundiman again this year.
Love to all my Kundie buddies.

December 27, 2004

"stigmata" is December's featured poem.

September 8, 2004

I had a great time reading at Locus Arts as part of a group show "Found in Translation."
Check out the pictures.

August 7, 2004

"In Lieu of War Letters" is August's featured poem.

August 4-8, 2004

I had a good time at the First Annual Kundiman Emerging Asian American Poets Retreat.

July 5, 2004

"dragon" is July's featured poem.

May 30, 2004

The Portal's front page is now redesigned to feature poems. The poem for June 2004 is "You Guan Xi."

February 5, 2003

I've been writing infrequently. Some poems need revision. Others just haven't been collected on this site yet.

November 24, 2001

Temple is a thematic re-collection of some found and old poems on the inner darkness.

November 8, 2001

i am working on collecting old/found poems into a theme on the inner darkness called Temple.

Lately in poetry, I seem to be dealing with stubborn ghosts that really should stay in their closets! Underwater bodies rising to the surface. Though, these days life is really more like a glassy, sunny day on a lake.

October 17, 2001

sometimes i miss you. i wonder if we would have been friends anymore. probably not.

September 15, 2001

i am thinking about writing a poem called stigmata about recent events.

August 29, 2001

This piece is for local interest:

minna sandmeyer

minna
you beat me to it
hung yourself in the hills
of Palo Alto, above Stanford
don't you know for years
i dreamed of a similar death
over and over and over
one small difference tho
i plotted to thirst and starve
in case any hope of life was left
i could save myself
tricky eh?
well now you've gone and done it
so many of us at Stanford
thought the same way
but you
you really did it
wow   you were serious
about   life   environmentalism
animal rights   love   peace
death
did you think the world would be better off
without you
or you   without the world?
you took a year off like i did
like my friend luis who killed himself
how much more evidence do you want
you're loved   here i am writing your eulogy
and i never knew you
minna
you're beautiful, alive
radiant in your photographs
the sun kisses you every day   every night
i think of you often
my sister   suicide girl
rest in peace
love

For more info on minna, see her memorial page.

August 25, 2001

i added the title bar to this site for more info on me, the Portal, and etc.

i've also been writing a few new things. they'll probably go to print
journals before appearing here. i've been using a writing submission
service, Writer's Relief, as i've never been much good at marketing.
