Research Opportunities

A. MPhil RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS (2 years, GBP 6,000 p.a.)
to commence in January 1999

1. Performance: Video Archives
(in association with the Theatre Museum, London)

To address the video documentation of performance in all its forms
including live art and theatre and contribute to the Theatre Museum's
National Audit of Film and Video Documentation of the Performing Arts.

2. Dance:
Movement Based Performance in Contemporary Arts Practice

Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with interests
and concerns in one or more of the following areas: dance and Live Art,
dance and technology, site specific physically based work.

CVs along with a statement (maximum 500 words) outlining intended
research outcomes and the names and addresses of two academic referees
should be submitted to Mrs Sally Phillips who will also answer informal
enquiries. No application forms will be issued in the first instance.

B. RESEARCHER:
LIVE ART WEB SITE COPYRIGHT ISSUES (GBP 5,000 fixed fee)

To commence as soon as possible; completion in March 1999 will be
expected.

A suitably qualified researcher (preferably with some legal background)
is required to study Live Art website developments with an emphasis upon
Internet copyright issues and produce a short report. The report may be
used as the basis for a published Guide to Internet Copyright Issues for
Live Art Practitioners.

This project is supported by the Arts Council of England.

A CV with a covering letter plus the names of two referees should be
submitted to Mrs Sally Phillips as above.
