Many of you will know of the infra-red based Dimension Beam developed by
Interactive Light. Roland Corp announced a partnership with Interactive
Light in a press release Jan 29, 1998.

been audible in any way. Now the Dimension Beam is capturing motion and
turning it into music," De Franco told a press conference at the National
Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) exhibit being held in Anaheim.
It can take a sample or loop of sound and bend it, distort it, twist it,
manipulate it in ways that are not possible with keyboards, wheels, pedals
and faders,"Interactive Light president Douglas Schiller said. "The beam
provides a unique level of flexibility and control over sound-generating
equipment that cannot be achieved in any other manner, with any other
musical input device."
"Its only weakness is in the limits of your imagination."
The Dimension Beam is the first musical input device ever available that
can turn a performer's body into an instrument. And with or without an
instrument, choreographed motions allow a performer to dance on stage
while also creating music, sound and visual effects.
